Jeff Green No. 66 Comcast Haas CNC Racing Chevrolet Chicagoland Preview

COMCAST COLORS: Comcast Corporation, a Best Buy retail partner, will be the primary sponsor of the No. 66 Haas CNC Racing Chevrolet and driver Jeff Green during the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.

Green’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo will carry a special black and yellow design representing Comcast, the nation’s leading provider of cable and entertainment.

Comcast is an associate sponsor of the Haas CNC Racing team this season, appearing on the No. 66 Chevrolet in races where Best Buy is the car’s primary sponsor.

The sponsorship is designed to raise awareness of the Best Buy/Comcast partnership, which allows customers to sign up for Comcast’s services at Best Buy retail locations, and at www.BestBuy.com.

LAST RACE AT CHICAGOLAND: In the 2006 NEXTEL Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway, a caution flag came out for debris on the race track just a few laps after Jeff Green and a number of other drivers had completed their green flag pit stops around lap 131 of the 267-lap event.

Those drivers who had not yet come to pit road remained on the lead lap, while everyone who had just made pit stops were caught a lap down.

In spite of the No. 66 team’s best efforts, Green was unable to get his lap back, and finished 27th.

CHASSIS: HAAS CNC RACING CHASSIS NO. 030 – This chassis is brand new to the Haas CNC Racing stable. This weekend marks the first time the car has been on a race track, although it has been to the wind tunnel.

Q&A WITH DRIVER JEFF GREEN:

What are your thoughts on Chicagoland Speedway? “It’s one of the ‘cookie cutter’ tracks. It’s kind of like Kansas, but with the track getting a few years of racing on it, it opened up a lot last year and made it a lot easier to race side by side. I don’t mind the ‘cookie cutter’ tracks, really. I mean, they’re all race tracks and we have to race at them, so I’m fine with them. Chicagoland is quite a bit like Charlotte (Lowe’s Motor Speedway), and we’ve run well there, so hopefully we can come out of here with a good finish.”

Q&A WITH CREW CHIEF HAROLD HOLLY:

Since the NEXTEL Cup Series is going completely to the car of tomorrow for all 2008 races, did you hesitate to build a new chassis using the present rules? “No, we didn’t hesitate to build a new ‘car of today,’ because there are a lot of races still on the schedule that use that car.

“We haven’t been that good with the old chassis, and we feel like we learned some things earlier this year that we wanted to incorporate, so we sucked it up and built a new car. Would I rather have focused on what’s coming up for 2008? Sure, but we need to get better on the 1.5-mile tracks right now, so you do what you have to do.

“The wind tunnel numbers on this chassis really looked good, so I think this chassis will be the start of our turnaround on the 1.5-mile tracks.”

GREEN RETURNS TO HIS SHORT TRACK ROOTS: Jeff Green, who will pilot the No. 66 Comcast Haas CNC Racing Chevrolet in the USG Sheetrock 400 NASCAR race at Chicagoland Speedway, will also return to his Late Model roots this weekend in Illinois.

Green will be behind the wheel of driver Stevie Campbell's Turtle Soup Racing car in the ninth Annual George Appleton Memorial Echo Power Blower 100 on Friday at the Grundy County Speedway in Morris.

Green will join his Haas CNC Racing teammate, Johnny Sauter, and Rich Bickle as one of three NASCAR drivers making special appearances in the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour's NASCAR Star Summer Shoot Out event.

JEFF GREEN: "I'm looking forward to this race. It's fun to go somewhere different - I've never been to Grundy before and we all grew up racing Late Models and different kinds of cars and it should be a real good time to do this with the American Speed Association Midwest Tour. My team mate Johnny (Sauter) is very excited and it will be a good battle in those cars.”

Sponsored by the Chicago Wolves, the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Late Model Green will drive features a Wolves logo and the number 94, (the team’s first year of competition was 1994). Campbell is a former pro hockey linesman who was an official at Wolves games. The team started sponsoring his car last summer.
