Scott Riggs Las Vegas
Pre-Race Report
Scott Riggs and the No. 66 State Water Heaters team travel to Las Vegas this week for Sunday’s Running of the UAW 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Coming off a 21st-place finish at the Auto Club Speedway last week, Riggs looks to build on his team’s early season success.
“We’re working hard to get better,” Riggs said. “Our finishes in the first two races are nothing to be ashamed of, but they’re not indicative of this team’s capabilities.”
Riggs has four starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a best finish of 23rd. His average starting position is 12th and his average finish is 28th at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval.
“Vegas is a lot like California and I think we learned a lot last week that will help us here,” Riggs said. “It’s a lot narrower than California so there is less side-by-side racing. It’s a pretty tough track.”
The No. 66 team has chassis No. 432 at LVMS. It was new to Haas CNC Racing in February 2007 and raced last season (as the No. 70) at Darlington, Infineon, and Watkins Glen.
Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will be broadcast live on FOX at 4:30 p.m. EST and on local PRN affiliates.
