Riggs Scores Top-20 Finish
ATLANTA (March 10, 2008) – Scott Riggs drove his No. 66 State Water Heaters Chevrolet to an 18th-place finish in yesterday’s running of the Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Riggs lined up in the 28th starting position and fought a loose car throughout the race en route to his first Top-20 finish of the season.
“The car was loose all day -- I just couldn’t get into the corners,” Riggs said. “I had to fight the wheel all the way through the center of the turn and when I hit the gas on exit the rear end wanted to snap around. It was just evil,” he said.
The No. 66 team made chassis and air pressure adjustments on several pit stops to solve the loose condition, but “the changes seemed to help one and hurt the other (entry and exit),” Riggs said.
Riggs’ 18th-place finish moved him up three spots in the driver points to 26th. The No. 70 team is also 26th in owner points.
The team next travels to Bristol Motor Speedway for Sunday’s running of the Food City 500. The race will be broadcast live on Fox beginning at 2 p.m. and on local PRN affiliates.
