Scott Riggs Bristol Pre-Race Report

BRISTOL, TENN. (March 12, 2008) – Scott Riggs and the No. 66 team will carry the colors of Haas CNC Racing’s parent company Haas Automation at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend as they look to build momentum from their first Top-20 finish of the season last week at Atlanta.

“I’m looking forward to racing at Bristol with this team,” Riggs said. “Haas CNC Racing had great cars here last year and I had a good run in the No. 10 car on the widened track last fall so I’m confident it will be a good weekend for us.

“The extra room makes for better side-by-side racing,” Riggs added. “The three feet they added here is like adding 10 feet at any other track.”

All eyes will be on the Top-35 in owner points this weekend since the 35 guaranteed starting positions will be based on 2008 owners points following Sunday’s race. To this point in the season (first five races) guaranteed spots have gone to the Top-35 cars based on last season’s final owner points standings.

“We need a good run to secure our points position,” Riggs said. “Our finish this week could be the difference between being in the Top-20 or on edge of the Top-35. We’re definitely not taking anything for granted.”

In eight starts at Bristol Motor Speedway Riggs has one Top-5 and two Top-10 finishes with a career best 4th-place finish in August 2006. His average starting position at Bristol is 23rd and his average finish is 24th.

Sunday’s running of the Food City 500 will be broadcast live on Fox beginning at 2 p.m. and on local PRN affiliates.
