Riggs Makes Most of
Tight Handling Car at Bristol
BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 17, 2008) – Scott Riggs in the No. 66 Haas Automation Chevrolet Impala SS finished 22nd in yesterday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Riggs lined up for the race in the 31st starting position on the grid after qualifying was rained out and the field was set based on the 2007 season’s final owner points standings.
Despite having a car that wouldn’t travel well through the corners, Riggs moved through the field to reach the 17th position early in the race before eventually falling two laps down to the leaders.
“The car was tight in the corners all day,” Riggs said. “I had to hold onto the wheel too long waiting for the car to turn which hurt me on exit. The team worked hard on correcting the tight condition but the car never really came around. I’m really proud of their effort though,” he added. “They give me all they’ve got every week.”
Riggs’ finish was good enough to gain two positions in both the driver and owner points standings and he and the team are now 24th in each.
Following a weekend off the team will head to Martinsville Speedway for the March 30 running of the Goody’s Cool Orange 500. The race will be broadcast live on Fox and local MRN affiliates beginning at 2 p.m.
